Small Business Owner

My wife and I have owned several business for the past 20+ years.  We started in 1998 with a craft shop we named Chief Henry's Gifts & More.  Sadly that business was completely destroyed by fire in 1999.  However, that did not hinder us from opening other businesses over the course of several years.  In 1999, the same year as the fire, we opened three more businesses (Papa Bear Gifts, Cherokee Moccasin Gift Outlet and Cherokee Express Laundromat).  In 2000, we opened two more businesses (Chief Henry's Moccasin Shop and Chief Henry's Golf & Games).  In 2001, we opened three more businesses (Chief Henry's Fur Shop, Car Wash Express and reopened Chief Henry's Gifts).  In 2002, we opened a knife booth at the Asheville mall for the holiday season, which turned out to be quite a success.  We went back to the mall in 2003 and opened the knife booth again plus a Gift store.  In 2009, we moved Chief Henry's Gifts to a new location and in 2012, we bought a hotel in our hometown we named the Cherokee Grand Hotel.  Currently, we still own 3 businesses (the car wash, the laundromat and the hotel), which are all located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, NC.
